This 3-week "Learn Russian through the Soviet and Russian Movies" online school will be organized on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays each week (4 days each week, 12 days during three weeks). It will include 42 hours of intensive Russian language teaching (3.5 hours daily). 

In addition to watching two movies per week, students will also thoroughly discuss grammar, vocabulary, and the topic in general. The readings and other listening materials are available in our syllabus. Every day, the class will start with a discussion of the homework. The class will then discuss, interpret, and decipher a particular movie, grammar, and topic. Each day's class will end with a discussion and questions.

Delve into Russian and Soviet realities with our immersive course, "Learn Russian through the Soviet and Russian Movies". This unique and enlightening journey allows participants to explore the everyday Russian language and the realities of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation.

Course Content:
Throughout this 3-week course, you will study and analyze six movies (4 Russian and 2 Soviet).

Students will begin by attending a preparation class where they will learn new vocabulary and the context of the movie they will be watching. Afterward, they will be required to watch the movie at home. The following day, students will participate in discussions and drills about the film. Homework will be assigned after each class.

So, everyone with an intermediate level of Russian can apply and participate in ASPIRANTUM’s "Learn Russian through the Soviet and Russian Movies" online course from April 1, 2024, till April 19, 2024.

Learn Russian through the Soviet and Russian Movies Syllabus

Online course “Learn Russian through the Modern Russian Movies” aims to boost the mastery of the Russian language by delving into the captivating realm of contemporary Russian cinema. Visual and auditory depth of the film helps to immerse students in genuine language usage, cultural settings and a variety of linguistic expressions common in modern Russian society. In this course students will watch six Russian movies and participate in tasks tailored to improve their listening, writing, speaking and reading skills. These tasks provide a holistic language learning experience, applying theoretical knowledge in a practical context. The purpose of the course: introduce the students to modern Russian culture and language via modern movies and thereby form relevant linguistic and cultural competence of students.
